Baseball Game Preview: McClain Tigers vs. North Adams Green Devils

McClain has gone a perfect 3-0 against North Adams recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will face off against the Green Devils at 5:00 p.m. North Adams took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McClain, who comes in off a win.

McClain took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Washington. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 19-3).

Cohen Six made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McClain is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Six was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hudson Lovett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Matthew Cummins also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

McClain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, North Adams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 11-4 to Manchester. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Green Devils who fell 7-5 when the teams previously met back in April of 2024.

The victory snapped McClain's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-8 record. As for North Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

McClain took their win against North Adams in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
