Softball Recap: Woodbridge Raiders vs. Cape Henlopen Vikings
Woodbridge extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-5 in the process. They came up short against the Cape Henlopen Vikings, falling 11-1. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Cape Henlopen, the win keeps they at an undefeated 11-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season.
For Cape Henlopen's part, Abby Marsh made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Marsh has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Calciano and Hayden Hudson did most of the damage at the plate: Calciano went 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Hudson went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
