Baseball Recap: Washington Triumphs

While Washington's victory against Purcell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors skirted past the Dragons 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.

Owen Andrews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Washington's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mayson Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Washington pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Purcell, their loss dropped their record down to 20-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will host Blanchard at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Purcell, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tecumseh at 5:00 p.m.
