Preview: Bridgeport Bulldogs vs. Morrill Lions
Bridgeport is 10-0 against Morrill since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Bridgeport Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Morrill Lions at 7:00 p.m. Bridgeport will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Bridgeport stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Torrington at home to the tune of 76-47.
Bridgeport found their leader in underclassman Gage Nein, who scored 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Nein is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Kolby Lussetto was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Morrill ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 48-42 win over Hemingford. The win was just what Morrill needed coming off of a 56-31 defeat in their prior game.
Morrill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Pittman Ashwin out in front who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Wyler Fisher, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Bridgeport pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Morrill, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bridgeport have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Morrill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Bridgeport against Morrill in their previous matchup on Friday as the team secured a 61-25 victory. With Bridgeport ahead 37-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
