Graham hasn't had much luck against Southeast Alamance recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Devils will welcome the Stallions at 5:00 p.m. Graham has given up an average of 16.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Graham's offense. They lost 21-0 to Chatham Central last Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Southeast Alamance hadn't done well against Jordan-Matthews recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Stallions came out on top against the Jets by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stallions.
Tatum Shelton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anna Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Katie Lloyd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Southeast Alamance's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Graham, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Graham has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Southeast Alamance struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Graham suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Southeast Alamance in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
