Softball Recap: Hampden's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Hampden fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Bangor on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4. The loss was the Broncos' first of the season.

Cat Facchini spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up 20 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kiera Gabric was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Mariah Coon, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hampden fell to 3-1. As for Bangor, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hampden will venture away from home to face off against Old Town at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bangor, they will head out to take on Brewer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
