Basketball Game Preview: Manatee Hurricanes vs. Tampa Bay Tech Titans + Official Tickets

The Manatee Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Tech Titans will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Manatee and Lakewood Ranch meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Hurricanes enjoyed a cozy 64-50 victory over the Mustangs. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay Tech suffered their closest defeat since January 17th on Tuesday. They fell just short of King by a score of 69-67. The Titans were up 26-11 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Loss or not, Tampa Bay Tech got some senior leadership from Dexter Lawson and Aamir Stafford. Lawson dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Stafford dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, Lawson is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Timothy Jackson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The victory got Manatee back to even at 2-2. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Manatee came up short against Tampa Bay Tech in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 48-35. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
