League recap: Dewey overpowering for Dawson in past week

4A Region III District 24 league recap: 3/20/13

Michael Dewey was the best pitcher in 4A Region III District 24 this week, leading Dawson. He won one game and retired eight batters.

Goose Creek Memorial made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fourth to first place in the league thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Santa Fe fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fifth place after going 0-2 in the past week.

The Indians' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 16 hits and 11 walks, both of which led the league.

The Eagles struck out a league-leading 49 times over the past week. Dawson has struggled at the plate this season, leading the league with 121 strikeouts.

4A Region III District 24's Brent Janak had a great week on the mound, as he led the league with two wins and ten strikeouts.



There were six hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Taylor Hildebrand, who hit .500 by going 3-for-6.

Ball's Stephen Neumann struck out nine Santa Fe hitters en route to a 3-1 victory on March 15. Over his six innings pitched he allowed three runs on five hits.
