Merrol Hyde Magnet gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 68-45 margin over the Christian Community Colts. The Hawks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 6th (when they won 74-27).

Merrol Hyde Magnet was led to victory by Bennett Altepeter and Pierce Cook. Altepeter shot 45% from the field on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Cook went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. Eliot Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Christian Community now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Merrol Hyde Magnet will square off against Mount Juliet Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Christian Community, they will challenge Westmoreland at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
