Basketball Game Preview: Lake Hornets vs. Bay Springs Bulldogs

The Lake Hornets will head out to challenge the Bay Springs Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Lake strolled past Scott Central with points to spare, taking the game 32-17. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Rebels are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wayne County typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Bay Springs proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the War Eagles 54-38.

Bay Springs is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Lake, their record is now 9-5.

Lake ended up a good deal behind Bay Springs in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 47-30. Can Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
