Preview: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. Paradise Valley Trojans
Shadow Mountain is 7-2 against Paradise Valley since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Shadow Mountain Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Paradise Valley Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Shadow Mountain comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Monday, Shadow Mountain ended up a good deal behind Lee Williams and lost 39-21.
Shadow Mountain's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brinley Lensch, who scored 10 points along with 5 steals, and Cheyenne Hanna who scored 3 points along with 11 steals.
Meanwhile, Paradise Valley really took it to Desert Mountain for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-16 win at home.
Neha Patel and Emilee Resendez were among the main playmakers for Paradise Valley as the former scored 21 points along with 3 steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Resendez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Savana Blazina, who scored 9 points.
The losses dropped Shadow Mountain to 0-4 and Lee Williams to 3-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Shadow Mountain have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 13.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Paradise Valley struggles in that department as they've been even better at 29.4 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Shadow Mountain was dealt a bruising 67-14 loss at the hands of Paradise Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Shadow Mountain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
