Softball Game Preview: Salem Rocks vs. Brighton Bulldogs

The Salem Rocks are taking a road trip to square off against the Brighton Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Salem barely beat Franklin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rocks were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Patriots on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Rocks, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Brighton lost 18-11 to South Lyon East on Monday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Libby Carah was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Minnick, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Salem pushed their record up to 8-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Salem beat Brighton 9-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rocks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
