Baseball Recap: Verdugo Hills Comes Up Short

Verdugo Hills and Banning squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Verdugo Hills had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Pilots by a score of 3-1. The Dons have struggled against the Pilots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Verdugo Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Aquino, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Verdugo Hills' loss dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Banning, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 22-8.

Verdugo Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Banning, they will face off against Carson on Saturday. The Colts' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Pilots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
