Basketball Game Preview: Penn Yan Academy Mustangs vs. Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders

Penn Yan Academy hasn't had much luck against Palmyra-Macedon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Penn Yan Academy Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Penn Yan Academy came up short against Newark and fell 49-39. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Reds are ranked 156th).

Meanwhile, Palmyra-Macedon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Canandaigua Academy on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win.

Palmyra-Macedon is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Penn Yan Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Penn Yan Academy lost to Palmyra-Macedon on the road by a decisive 45-29 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Penn Yan Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
