Football Recap: Sand Rock Takes a Loss

Sand Rock had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it five. They lost to the West End Patriots on the road by a 33-14 margin. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

As for West End, the win got them back to even at 1-1. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Jaxon Hamby went supernova, throwing for 189 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.

Sand Rock and West End will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats are set to take on their familiar foe North Sand Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, West End will challenge rival Falkville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
