Basketball Game Preview: Sachse Mustangs vs. Rowlett Eagles

The Sachse Mustangs will face off against the Rowlett Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Sachse narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Naaman Forest 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Rangers since January 12, 2021.

Sachse can attribute much of their success to Matthew Hudgins, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points, and Maddox Belino, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Hudgins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Banks, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rowlett, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 67-57 victory over North Garland on Tuesday.

Rowlett's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Sachse, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.

Sachse was able to grind out a solid win over Rowlett in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 76-66. Will Sachse repeat their success, or does Rowlett have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
