Softball Game Preview: University Titans vs. Merritt Island Mustangs

The University Titans will be taking part in a tournament against the Merritt Island Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. University is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

If University beats Merritt Island with seven runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lake Mary 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since February 28th.

Mia Fisher was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Nina Rios-Cruz was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Merritt Island came up short against Viera on Tuesday and fell 7-4.

University's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Merritt Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
