Basketball Recap: Ruskin Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Ruskin Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Heritage Christian School Eagles on the road by a 75-57 margin on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Ruskin Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Evan Neighbors, who posted 25 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevin Kennison, who scored 19 points.

Heritage Christian School's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Reid, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Reid has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavyn Gailfoil, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points in addition to four steals and three blocks.

Ruskin Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Heritage Christian School, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Ruskin Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Heritage Christian School, they have already played their next match, a 77-52 victory against Christian Learning Academy on the 13th.
