Basketball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 46-32 bruising from the Southern Valley Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Flyers have lost by exactly 14 points.

Despite the defeat, Franklin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryan Bartels went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Bartels. Another player making a difference was Archer Goosic, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Southern Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.

Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-27 defeat against Southwest on the 3rd. As for Southern Valley, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bertrand at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Bertrand is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.
