Preview: Cass vs. Ringgold
The Cass Colonels will head out on the road to face off against the Ringgold Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
For the first time this season, Cass was forced to settle for a draw. They and Northwest Whitfield finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Ringgold had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a goal and slipped past Christian Heritage 2-1. Drew Weber had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Ringgold got from the refs.
Ringgold was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Isaac Talley and
Canon Lea, who scored both of Ringgold's goals.
With that draw, Cass' record moves to 2-0-1. As for Ringgold, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Cass came out on top in a nail-biter against Ringgold in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cass since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
