Baseball Game Preview: Eureka Loggers vs. Arcata Tigers

The Eureka Loggers will head out on the road to take on the Arcata Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Eureka will be strutting in after a win while Arcata will be coming in after a loss.

Eureka took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Fortuna as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Loggers in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won six in a row.

Eureka got a great performance from Royce Olson as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Olson has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Garrett Levitt was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Eureka is undefeated when Levitt posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Jewell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Eureka kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Arcata's offense. They lost 14-0 to Del Norte on Wednesday. The Tigers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Arcata's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Eureka, their record is now 6-9.
