Preview: Valley Christian Eagles vs. Columbiana Clippers
Valley Christian and Columbiana are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Valley Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Columbiana Clippers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Valley Christian ended up a good deal behind David Anderson and lost 51-37. While losing is never fun, Valley Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while David Anderson is ranked 268th).
Meanwhile, even though Wellsville scored an imposing 67 points on Tuesday, Columbiana still came out on top. Columbiana walked away with a 76-67 win over Wellsville. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Columbiana.
Columbiana's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Seth Struharik, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Alex Eusebio, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Columbiana, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Valley Christian couldn't quite finish off Columbiana when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 54-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Columbiana's Ian Less, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 2 assists. Now that Valley Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
