Softball Recap: Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies vs. Viborg/Hurley Cougars

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison, Elk Point-Jefferson was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Viborg/Hurley Cougars with a sharp 16-1 win. The high-scoring effort was just what Elk Point-Jefferson needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Regan Rasmussen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched. Rasmussen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cera Schmitz was incredible, going 2-for-2 with three runs, a triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Samantha Marx, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Elk Point-Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Viborg/Hurley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Elk Point-Jefferson will head out on the road to face off against Sioux Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sioux Valley will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Elk Point-Jefferson surely won't give up without a fight. Viborg/Hurley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
