Basketball Recap: Calhoun Red Devils vs. South Harrison Hawks
The Calhoun Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to South Harrison 50-45. Calhoun has struggled against the Hawks recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
South Harrison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hope Woods, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Bland, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Calhoun's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13. As for South Harrison, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
Calhoun will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Big Blacks at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for South Harrison, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Gilmer County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
