Baseball Recap: Victor Valley Christian Has No Trouble Against Trona

Victor Valley Christian won the last time they faced Trona and things went their way on Thursday too. The Royals blew past the Tornadoes 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won three contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Melvin Kanyike and Angel Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Kanyike scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4, while Garcia got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Victor Valley Christian is 2-1 when Garcia posts three or more RBI, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zar Palido, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Victor Valley Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Victor Valley Christian's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Trona, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.
