Escondido hasn't lost a match since January 16th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past the San Marcos Knights 2-1. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Knights are ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Anthony Ramirez and Gilbert Pina scored both of Escondido's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Escondido is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2-3 record this season. As for San Marcos, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Escondido challenge the Valley Center at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Marcos, they will square off against Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Carmel's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
