Basketball Game Preview: Salida Spartans vs. Banning Lewis Academy Stallions

The Salida Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Salida is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Ellicott 81-40 on Tuesday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Thunderhawks are ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Banning Lewis Academy waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their game with ease, bagging a 75-44 victory over the Huskies.

Salida's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Banning Lewis Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Salida was able to grind out a solid victory over Banning Lewis Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 60-50. Will Salida repeat their success, or does Banning Lewis Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
