Volleyball Recap: American Comes Up Short

American was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mission San Jose Warriors. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 30, 2023, but that streak is no more.

American actually scored more points across those five sets (103-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 17-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-10.

American's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mission San Jose, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American will welcome Newark Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mission San Jose, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moreau Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
