Preview: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Alhambra Bulldogs

Two dominant signal callers in Markos Lagios and Beau Blau are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Piedmont Highlanders are on the road again on Friday and play against the Alhambra Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Piedmont will be strutting in after a win while Alhambra will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Piedmont had just enough and edged Newark Memorial out 29-26.

Lagios continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 59 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Sam Shelby also helped out with an impressive 120 receiving yards.

Despite a strong season so far, Alhambra has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of College Park on Friday.

Alhambra might have lost, but man, Blau was a machine: he rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 155 yards and a touchdown. Blau was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.

Piedmont pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Piedmont has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Alhambra struggles in that department as they've been even better at 203.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
