Softball Recap: Fitchburg Takes a Loss

Fitchburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bernardians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-7 back in April.

Fitchburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ina Soini, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Ella Kitchin was another, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Fitchburg's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fitchburg will host Leominster at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they will square off against Bromfield at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Bernardians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
