Pflugerville kept a clean sheet against Leander on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 2-0 win over the Leander Lions. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Lions are ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Angel Arce Surita was the driving force of Pflugerville's attack as he scored both of Pflugerville's goals, bringing his season total up to two goals.

Pflugerville's victory bumped their record up to 3-0-2. As for Leander, they now have a losing record at 1-2-2.

Pflugerville will face off against Fredericksburg at 10:40 a.m. on Friday. As for Leander, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-0 defeat against Vista Ridge on the 7th.
