Football Recap: Matoaca Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Matoaca, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Meadowbrook Monarchs 33-12 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won seven in a row.

Stephen Ankiel was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 335 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.0 yards per attempt. Those 335 passing yards gave him a new career-high.

Another reason for the win was Matoaca's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. It was truly a group effort as Brody Vaden, Jonah Louden, and Josiah McDaniel picked up two apiece.

Dashod Singleton and Dashaun Chisem certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Singleton picked up 112 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Chisem threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Singleton showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 53 yards.

Matoaca's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Meadowbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Matoaca nor Meadowbrook have any future games scheduled.
