Basketball Recap: Keshon Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mid-Carolina over Newberry

Mid-Carolina lost against Newberry back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Mid-Carolina Rebels and the Newberry Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Mid-Carolina Rebels falling 52-33. The Rebels were down 45-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Mid-Carolina's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keshon Williams, who posted four points and six rebounds. Those six rebounds gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Gallman, who earned ten points.

Mid-Carolina has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Newberry, they moved to 5-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Mid-Carolina and Newberry could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Mid-Carolina (ranked 229th) will meet Fox Creek (ranked 64th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Newberry (ranked 157th) will meet Irmo (ranked 50th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
