Football Game Preview: Brunswick Pirates vs. Gainesville Red Elephants + Official Tickets

Brunswick is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Gainesville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pirates will welcome the Red Elephants at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Brunswick is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Winder-Barrow 78-30. With the Pirates ahead 54-30 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Brunswick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grant Moore, who threw for 363 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 54 yards on only six carries. That's the most passing touchdowns Moore has posted since back in August. Another rusher making a difference was Josiah Gibbons, who rushed for 123 yards and three TDs on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brunswick was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 359 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winder-Barrow only rushed for 154.

Brunswick didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ziyan Rankin and Samir Dobbins.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Gainesville against Dunwoody on Friday as the squad secured a 48-3 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Red Elephants' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Wildcats are ranked 239th).

Brunswick better keep an eye on KHARIM HUGHLEY. He was instrumental in Gainesville's win, throwing for 169 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 52 yards on only five carries. CAMERON JAMES was another key player, picking up 43 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Brunswick's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Gainesville, their win bumped their record up to an identical 9-2.
