Basketball Game Preview: Desert Chapel Eagles vs. Diamond Ranch Panthers

The Desert Chapel Eagles will face off against the Diamond Ranch Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Chapel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.

Desert Chapel's usually-dominant defense will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Desert Hot Springs offense got past them. Desert Chapel came up short against Desert Hot Springs last Monday, falling 58-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 2, 2024.

Despite the loss, Desert Chapel saw an underclassman step up: freshman Felix Ochoa went 9 for 17 en route to 21 points and eight boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ochoa has scored all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Diamond Ranch). They enjoyed a cozy 75-61 victory over Montclair on Tuesday.

Desert Chapel's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.4 points over those games. As for Diamond Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 15-13.
