Volleyball Recap: Lena-Winslow Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lena-Winslow was the 2-0 winner over Pecatonica when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Lena-Winslow sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 10-25, 25-19.

Lena-Winslow's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lila Grindey, who had 12 digs and two assists, and Mia Diffenderfer, who had 21 digs, 13 kills, and two aces. Diffenderfer has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 11 times she's played. Shaylen Smith also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Sam Cobb was nothing short of spectacular for Pecatonica: she had 25 digs and two assists. Those 25 digs gave Cobb a new career-high.

Lena-Winslow's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Pecatonica, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Coming up, Lena-Winslow will take on Gillespie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pecatonica, they will face off against Winnebago at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
