Preview: Mays Raiders vs. Villa Rica Wildcats
The Mays Raiders will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Villa Rica Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Mays' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Even though Creekside scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, Mays still came out on top. Mays enjoyed a cozy 78-63 victory over Creekside. Given Mays' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Creekside is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Derron Lindsey ii was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for eight straight games. Germani Wilson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Villa Rica came up short against Douglas County on Saturday and fell 57-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Villa Rica has scored all season.
Mays' win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Villa Rica, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Everything went Mays' way against Villa Rica when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Mays made off with a 74-50 win. Does Mays have another victory up their sleeve, or will Villa Rica turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
