Recap: Millbury Woolies vs. Auburn Rockets
The Millbury Woolies put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 72-21 blowout they got at home against Auburn. Millbury's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Anthony Phillipo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Vaccaro, who scored six points along with six assists.
Millbury's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.75 points. As for Auburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millbury has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Shepherd Hill Regional at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. Auburn will take on Leicester at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Leicester is ranked 223rd, while Auburn is ranked 227th).
