Baseball Recap: Capitol Hill Redwolves vs. Northwest Classen Knights
Capitol Hill extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-19 in the process. They came up short against the Northwest Classen Knights, falling 18-9. The Redwolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 8-1.
Capitol Hill saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Arispe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Houston Gonzalez was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
As for Northwest Classen, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Northwest Classen's side, Sam McClure was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Those six RBI gave McClure a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Mayfield, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capitol Hill will host Ardmore at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.36 runs per game on average), something the Redwolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northwest Classen, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Douglass at 6:00 p.m. The Knights are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
