Football Recap: State College Has No Trouble Against Wilkes-Barre

It's playoff time, and State College had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack get on the board and left with a 52-0 win on Saturday. That looming 52-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Little Lions yet this season.

It was another big night for D'Antae Sheffey, who rushed for 150 yards and four scores on only 15 carries. He has become a key player for State College: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Spicer, who rushed for 87 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something State College proved: they limited Wilkes-Barre to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. While four picked up at least four total tackles, Hank Lustig stood above the rest. He picked up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown. State College didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.8.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for State College, racking up 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Lustig, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for State College and bumps their season record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.5 points over those games. As for Wilkes-Barre, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, State College will take on Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Little Lions 14.6, the Vikings 10.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Wilkes-Barre does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
