Lincoln North Star faced Elkhorn South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Navigators sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Storm. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 on Saturday.

Lincoln North Star was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Delainey Volkmer paced Lincoln North Star's offense, picking up 23 kills. Volkmer got some help from Alex Kroll and her 42 assists. Volkmer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Despite the defeat, Elkhorn South saw an underclassman step up: freshman Finley Tate had 32 digs and three aces. Those 32 digs set a new season-high mark for Tate. Another player making a difference was Averi Scardina, who had 11 digs.

Lincoln North Star has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Elkhorn South, they dropped their record down to 15-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Lincoln North Star didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Lincoln Northeast on the 9th. As for Elkhorn South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Millard North on the 9th.
