North Central Kansas recap October 1, 2013
Clay Center's Ricky Huse rumbled for the longest rushing play in North Central Kansas this season in his game against Marysville last week. Huse's team topped the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 133 in all.
Wamego extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Chapman, 54-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Red Raiders.
Clay Center's dynamic duo of Kody Gregory and Huse proved tough for Marysville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gregory threw for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns and Huse had 67 yards receiving.
Alec MacLean was a key player and the best on defense this week as Todd Rice's team topped Dustin Heuer's team. The 6-foot-1 defensive back.
Wamego's Kyler Alderson and Trenton York have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Alderson has thrown for 764 yards this season, while York, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 13 catches for 249 yards. The Tigers' Huse leads the league in rushing yards with 265.
An important game coming up in North Central Kansas this week will be when Abilene takes on Dale Burkeholder's team. As it stands, the Cowboys are in third, while the Red Raiders are in first.
Wamego took down the Fighting Irish 54-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
