Baseball Recap: El Dorado Victorious

After only two runs in their last match, El Dorado made sure to put some runs up on the board against Foothill on Saturday. The El Dorado Cougars were the clear victor by a 22-2 margin over the Foothill Mustangs. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cougars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Joe Parsons made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JJ Allen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Boston Melvin was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted an OBP of .286.

El Dorado's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Foothill, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: El Dorado beat Foothill by a score of 20-0 later that day.
