Football Game Preview: Spring Creek Spartans vs. South Tahoe Vikings

Spring Creek is a perfect 8-0 against South Tahoe since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spartans will head out to face off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Spring Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Dayton to the tune of 48-18 on Friday. With the Spartans ahead 35-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Spring Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Landon Boyle, who rushed for 186 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, and McCoy McArtor, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns. McArtor's passing game has become a key predictor of the Spartans' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Spring Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, South Tahoe never let their opponents score last Friday. They blew past Sparks 49-0. That 49 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

One reason for the win was South Tahoe's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Conner Hennessee refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

The victory made it two in a row for Spring Creek and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 18 points in those games. As for South Tahoe, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Spring Creek beat South Tahoe 15-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
