Baseball Recap: Union City Has No Trouble Against Maysville

On Friday, the Union City Tigers got the win against the Maysville Warriors by a conclusive 16-2. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly 14 runs.

Mason Baker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Baker was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Carson Biffle and Jacoby Laughing did most of the damage at the plate: Biffle went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Laughing went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Aiden Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

The victory made it two in a row for Union City and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14 runs. As for Maysville, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers take on the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maysville, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Empire at 2:00 p.m.
