Basketball Game Preview: Southern Tornadoes vs. Federal Hocking Lancers

The Southern Tornadoes will head out on the road to take on the Federal Hocking Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Southern will bounce into Friday's game after beating Belpre, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Southern came out on top against Belpre by a score of 64-56 on Monday. 64 seems to be a good number for the Tornadoes as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Federal Hocking, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They secured a 59-54 W over River Valley on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lancers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Southern pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Federal Hocking, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.

Everything went Southern's way against Federal Hocking in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Southern made off with a 73-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
