Basketball Recap: Ninety Six Takes a Loss

Ninety Six suffered their closest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the Crescent Tigers by a score of 30-27. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Ninety Six still got an impressive performance from Janiyah Squire, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Squire is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Ninety Six smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Ninety Six suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Crescent, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ninety Six will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pelion at 7:45 p.m. on January 14th. As for Crescent, they will welcome Walhalla at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
