Basketball Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Westlake Chaparrals
Johnson is 0-3 against the Chaparrals since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Johnson Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the Westlake Chaparrals at 7:00 p.m. Johnson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Chaparrals are ranked 57th).
Johnson scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Akins, posting a 71-30 victory at home. The win was just what Johnson needed coming off of a 72-48 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Westlake's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 35-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bowie. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westlake has scored all season.
Johnson's win bumped their record up to 14-15. As for Westlake, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-5.
Johnson was dealt a bruising 79-34 loss at the hands of the Chaparrals in their previous matchup back in January. Can Johnson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
