Softball Game Preview: Williamsburg Blue Pirates vs. Curwensville Golden Tide

Williamsburg is 1-6 against Curwensville since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Pirates will welcome the Golden Tide at 4:30 p.m. Williamsburg has given up an average of 17.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Williamsburg is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 26th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 17-3 to Juniata Valley.

Williamsburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Stultz, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Curwensville put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Glendale get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Golden Tide have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kylah Wos was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Curwensville got a massive performance out of Addison Siple, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Natalie Wischuck, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI.

Curwensville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Williamsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
