Valley and Del Campo squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Valley had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 46-14 loss at the hands of the Del Campo Cougars. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-8.
Although Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Ximena Ramirez and Deyonce Espinal.
It was another big night for Sophia Wright, who threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only five carries for Del Campo. The dominant performance gave Wright a new career-high in rushing yards. Reese Mills was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and three touchdowns.
The loss snapped Valley's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Del Campo, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.
Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Del Campo, they will face off against East Union at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Union is coming into the contest with seven straight victories on the road, so Del Campo will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
